If you’ve been following along, you know I recently became the Baltimore Chapter Leader of Gals That Brunch, an international organization finding the best brunch spots while bringing together inspiring boss babes to cultivate a community of supportive, encouraging, empowering, and uplifting women! Here is a little story about how GTB came to be…
GTB began in June 2015 at a popular brunch destination in Virginia Beach. Founder, Tiffany, had recently moved cross-country from Colorado for a job opportunity and was looking for a way to make new friends in a city where she knew not a one.
After waiting two hours to save a table for the first brunch pop-up, she began nervously thinking, ‘What if no one shows up?’ Sure enough, 30 young women came together that day!
They all met as complete strangers with one common goal: to find the best brunch spots in their city while making new friends, networking and establishing community amongst each other.
And now, a little bit about our Baltimore launch brunch at Rachel!
I love being creative, using my hands and my heart to produce something inspiring or innovative. I have an Etsy shop and this blog, which both grew from a desire to work with my hands and keep them busy. I’ve always been this way. When I took on the role as Baltimore Chapter Leader, I knew I wanted to make it something special, more than just a few girls grabbing a bite to eat and sipping on mimosas on a Saturday morning. I wanted the brunches to take place in a beautiful and intimate setting, with curated and handcrafted goods from talented vendors, and my expectations have far been exceeded so far! I started with the handmade (by my talented mother) linen table runners I used for my wedding and bunched them lengthwise on the table. Mallory from Everyday Rose Events provided stunning salal garland to drape along the center of the table with the runner, and placed a single stem rose at each setting for our brunch babes to take home. Yvonne Lawson from Coffee & Calligraphy designed hexagon marble place cards which paired beautifully with a few mercury glass votives to tie everything together.
I’ve poured my heart and soul into this, and although it requires a great deal of time and effort (and loads of email correspondence) on my part, I’ve already reaped the benefits of creating a new community of exceptional women! I cannot and will not turn back now! The possibilities are endless! So without further ado, check out the stunning photos from our launch brunch at Rachel in Federal Hill!
