Last week I had the pleasure and honor of teaching a gift wrapping class at J. Crew in Baltimore! This was an absolute dream for me, partnering with a wonderful company for a holiday event to share my passion with others! Friends, new and old, gathered together with holiday spirits and sweet treats to chat about last minute gift ideas and learn creative and simple gift wrapping techniques by yours truly!
J. Crew carries a wide range of last minute gift options. Some of my favorites are the bluetooth earmuffs in buffalo plaid, cedar and snow X Illume glass candle, ribbon wrapped hoop earrings, glitter shearling slippers, Tovolo ice mold, death star ice mold, and the mens leather workwear gloves. The last few I mentioned are great choices for the man in your life. My husband has the tovolo ice mold and uses it every time he pours himself a glass bourbon.
J. Crew makes adorable gift wrapping paper and greeting cards they distribute during the holidays every year. They can be used together to create beautiful presents for friends and family. And if you don’t have J. Crew gift wrap or greeting cards, use whatever you have in your stash. Simply cut the card in half and tape it on to the front of the present. You can add a piece of ribbon if you have it, but it isn’t necessary if you don’t!
There are so many other ways to wrap gifts if you don’t have store bought wrapping paper or boughs. Look around your house and get creative! Amazon boxes are often filled with plain brown kraft paper and it’s usually in pretty good shape. Wrap your gift in the brown paper, then trace a cookie cutter in a basic pattern, tie a piece of ribbon (from something you ordered online) around it, and voila!
Other ideas include using paper doilies to dress up the kraft paper, cutting them in circles using the lid of a jar as your guide, using the remaining ring as a wreath and adding a bough, or using the doily shape exactly as it comes in a full circle or half.
The main goal with gift wrapping is to keep it simple and have fun with it! Don’t stress about how perfectly it’s wrapped or how long it took you to do it. Your friends and family will be impressed with anything you try, and after all, it’s the thought that counts, right?
If you’re on the hunt for last minute gifts, it’s not too late to head to your nearest J. Crew to pick up a few of these items! Most everything in the store is on sale and those items are an additional 40% off!
Special thanks to the talented and hardworking vendors who helped to pull this together: fine art film photographer, Manda Weaver, Infinity Artistry owner and beauty expert, Sara Elizabeth, and Top Shelf Mobile Bartending! And to the managers and staff at J. Crew Harbor East, thank you for the opportunity to partner with you and share my passion with others! You were a joy to work with!
