Week 7 came in like a lion with the nasty cold that came on the end of week 6. I had a few rough days and sleepless nights, but almost completely kicked it by day 4, and was rid of it by day 6. My morning sickness seemed to wane with my cold. It still comes on and off, but it is not a consistent nausea for 2-3 hours, or all day, like it previously was. As soon as I wake in the morning, I eat half a graham cracker, and when I wake in the middle of the night, I eat 1-2 graham crackers if I feel starved. I’ve also started eating a hard boiled egg each night before bed, so I am not sure what is working, but at this point, I don’t care. I will keep doing everything, until I’m well into my 2nd trimester, just to make sure I am in the clear. And if it comes back, I will start doing everything again.
Week 7 cravings: Crab Alfredo pizza, apples and peanut butter
In two weeks (right around my 10 week mark), Brian and I are flying to Maine to stay at my father in laws lake house. I am really looking forward to it, but also a little concerned that flying might not sit well with me considering the morning sickness I’ve dealt with. We are hoping to do some exploring, some relaxing, and potentially a little low-key boating. I should be going to an OB by then, so I will check with him or her to make sure I am not doing anything off limits.
Despite feeling pretty lousy the past week, Brian and I did get to see the heartbeat at our ultrasound 2 days into the week and it helped me get through the last few days. Seeing the little flicker on the screen gave me goosebumps. For me, it feels like the first step to truly feeling like I’ve joined the motherhood club. Something changed…for the better. Now, I am so eager to get to our next appointment when we get to hear the heartbeat! I can’t even contain my excitement!
When did the feeling of being a mother come over you? Was it when you saw your positive pregnancy test, at your first ultrasound, seeing or hearing the heartbeat, or another experience entirely?
